The Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro is the one phone Sony Ericsson managed to keep secret in the run up to Mobile World Congress 2011, and like last year's surprise X10 Mini Pro, it looks like a cracker of a QWERTY Android phone. This time though, it's going up market.

While the X10 Mini Pro was a tiny little belter of a budget Android phone, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro's 3.7-inch FWVGA touchscreen is resolutely high end: as is its Android 2.3 software, 1GHz Qualcomm chip, Exmor camera sensor and HDMI out for hooking up to a TV.

The big twist of course is that slide out QWERTY keyboard, which looks set to give the likes of the HTC Desire Z and Motorola Milestone 2 a bit of a fright. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait for a while until we can find out: this one is only out before the end of Q2 2011 – or just before July, in other words.

Compare the two and Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro is 140g and HTC Desire Z's handset is 180. HTC Desire Z is more wide and heavy. So Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro is winner.
