DVD Cloner : Custom Copying using DVD Cloner IV
Hi,
I just bought DVD Cloner IV yesterday. I registered my copy.
I have had several problems making backups of my DVDs. I did read the
FAQ before posting my queries. I must mention I am a novice at making
DVD backups. This is the first software that I am using because of the
great user reviews that you have received.
Problem 1: I was making a backup of a DVD 9 into two DVD 5 (DVD-R).
I chose the option DVD9 to 2 DVD5. I got a popup window that said that
the menu would not be copied and whether I wanted to get ahead. I said
yes and the DVD Cloner read the disk and prompted me to enter a blank
DVD. I did and then after some time I got the message it was done. But
the software did not prompt me for a second disk! When I examined the
disk that was copied it had only a portion of the movie and not the whole.
I do not believe I made a mistake in following the prompts. So what was
I doing wrong?
Problem 2: I was making a backup of another DVD9 into a single DVD5
(DVD-R) disk. I chose movie only option. It copied the movie. When I
viewed it there were more subtitles than in the normal viewing of the
movie. The extra subtitles are a running commentary of what is going
on in the movie and is actually quite distracting. How do I chose that
version of the movie that is viewed when the menu selection main
movie is selected?
What I really would like to do for some of these longer movies is to
remove some of the extra features like previews, interviews, and
biographies and various language features. I have read the online
help section on Custom Copying. However, I am not very clear on
some of the steps. Here are my questions for Custom Copying:
1) Should I make a 1:1 copy on my hard drive first?
2) Then go into that folder and delete the irrelevant sections (if I
can identify them)?
3) Copy that folder onto a blank DVD-R? How do I make sure that
the data is being compressed?
4) If the data does not fit onto one DVD-R5 disk can I just copy
a set of files onto one DVD5 and the remaining files onto another
DVD5? Is it a simple operation?
I am sorry this is a rather a long message but I have tried to explain
in detail what I did, what went wrong, and what I would like to do.
Thank you for your help and support. I look forward to using your
software.

Please give the answers
Thank you for contacting DVD-CLONER Inc. support team.
1. The function: DVD9 to 2 DVD5 will removie the menu and extra's. Some movie is not over 4.7GB if remove the menu and extra's. A blank DVD disc is 4.7GB. So sometimes you can backup a D9 movie into 1 D5 blank disc without the menu and extra's.
2. Please select the main subtitle with the your remote control.
Please tell me where you read the message you mentioned. 1) Should I make a 1:1 copy on my hard drive first? ....
If you make a 1:1 copy, you don't need to backup on hard drive frist.
You can't edit DVD movie by that way, going into that folder and deleting the irrelevant sections.
If the data does not fit onto one DVD-R5 , you may use DVD CLONER and re-compress it into D5 disc.
