SoundTaxi : Question regarding SoundTaxi and WMConvert Platinum
by questionadd (2007-04-01 21:38:24)
I want to convert audio books from Audible.com to the mp3 format. I downloaded a trial of WMConvert and it worked fine. I purchased the program.

I started converting my audio books, but I ran into a problem that I hope you can help me with.

I ran the registry edit to allow me to convert up to 4 files at a time. I set the compression quality to “very low: 64 kps”, since these are audio books.

My memory usage stays pretty constant at about 800 MB (2 GB in my PC), and the CPU usage bounces around between about 18% and 25% during the conversion.

The problem is that some of the books will only partially convert. When I play the converted book in Windows Media Player, the first 30 seconds or so of the book plays normally. (The Audible introduction to the book plays.)

Then there’s silence. The book is still playing in media player: The playing time timer keeps increasing, the play scooter keeps moving to the right, the total time for the book is correct, etc.), but there’s just silence. The file size for the mp3 version of the book is about right, compared to other books of the same length.

What’s going on and how can I fix it?

The other question I have is about SoundTaxi: What’s the difference between SoundTaxi and WMConvert?

What Windows version do you have installed?
------------------------------------

We uploaded a new version 2.3.1 to our official site: http://www.wma-convert.com/
You can download it by clicking on "Download free trial".

Please uninstall your version, reboot and install v. 2.3.1.
The old license code works with the new version.

Please let me know if it works now.

I installed version 2.3.1 as you suggested.

The files that wouldn't convert before now start to convert, but after a while, the conversion status changes to "error" and the conversion result is "bad allocation"

I've tried converting these files a couple of different times with 2.3.1. I've even tried downloading them again from Audible.com and converting, but I get the same result.

What do I do next?
