PowerDVD 6 Standard : powerdvd version 6
by lynn_atoz_support (2006-09-06 21:28:28)
I don't know if I have a software or hardware problem but the audio is
lagging and breaking up terrible when I try to play a dvd with your
software. I have a 1.7 ghz intell centrino 8510GZ gateway laptop with 1.2 gb
ram. I tried to change the settings in the transfer mode of the IDE drive to
DMA but it stays on PIO. Is this a problem? It plays an audio cd fine. The
processor stays around 60% when playing a dvd. It make no difference whether
the screen is maximized or smaller.
I appreciate any help. The dvd drive is an QSI DVD +-RW SDW-082.

I understand that audio quality is not upto mark in PowerDVD software.

Please follow the steps given below to resolve this issue:

1. Update the Sound card driver. Please contact your computer manufacturer to get the updates.

2. Upgrade directX to version 9.0c:
default.aspx

3. Reset your display settings, screen area to 1024 x 768, color depth to 16 bit and monitor refresh rate to 60 HZ.

4. Please download and install latest patch for PowerDVD 6.0 software from the link below:

dl_patch_252_1_ENU.html

5. To avoid any compatibility issues, please close all other software and utility applications including virus scans, screen saver and instant messaging software before you launch PowerDVD.

If the issue still persists, please set the Hardware acceleration to none. This can be adjusted as follows:

1.) Control Panel
2.) Display
3.) Settings
4.) Advanced
5.) Troubleshoot
6.) Set hardware acceleration to "none" or at minimum, disable all DirectDraw and Direct3D accelerations as well as all cursor and advanced drawing accelerations.

If the issue still not resolved, you will need to reinstall PowerDVD software (by following steps):

(a) Start --> Programs --> Cyberlink PowerDVD (uninstall it)
(b) Start --> Run (keyin ""regedit"") --> HKEY_Current_User --> Software --> Cyberlink --> PowerDVD and/or PDVD (delete the folder)
(c) Start --> Run (keyin ""regedit"") --> HKEY_Local_Machine --> Software --> Cyberlink --> PowerDVD and/or PDVD (delete the folder)
(d) Search and delete folder named Cyberlink and PowerDVD, if exists.
(e) Restart your system.
(f) Reinstall PowerDVD software.
