It had two rotary engines, enabling it to carry a substantial bomb load in comparison to its contemporary single engine competitors. A crew of a G4 nearly shot down Ernst Udet on his first combat mission. He later went on to score 67 kills. The G4 was used until 1916 when more advanced types came to the front
