Novobot is a smart headline viewer and news ticker that can dramatically improve your web browsing experience. You build a queue from the available sites, run the queue and do your work. Novobot will load each site from the queue, and extract headlines together with sub-headings and links. When the queue processing is complete, you can browse through the resulting headline list and surf to the content of interest with your default browser. No more wandering over the entire Web in the pursuit of interesting stuff -- it's all here, in your Novobot window.

Novobot Features:

  • extracts headlines from syndicated content in form of XML and XML-based source (RSS, Moreover etc.);
  • extracts headlines from any HTML source content when there are headline titles with links in any part of the HTML document -- no other headline viewer we know of can do this;
  • loads web resources using HTTP protocol, with proxy support -- great for corporate users;
  • displays all headlines simultaneously as a list in the main window, together with optional site logos; wraps long headlines so that the text is completely visible in the window; optionally hides read headlines;
  • supports several encodings with user-configurable fonts for each encoding -- this international support feature is unique among available headline viewers;
  • user-defined queue to process all sites of interest in one step;
  • has convenient keyboard interface similar to that of Outlook Express;
  • channel information stored in compact NOV files that are shell-enabled for opening and editing (using provided NovEdit program) and feature automatic channel installation and upgrade capability either locally or from the Web;
  • extensible: users can add their own or edit existing site definitions, with substring and pattern matching for precise headline extraction from Web resources;
  • integrates with default browser: double-clicking a headline launches browser to display the resource content;
  • main window remembers screen position and size;
