General ActiveX Control Information :
These advanced controls function like a graphic image, somewhat like a graph chart in Excel and they do not use fonts or bitmaps. To see how easy they are to use, view the ActiveX Control Tutorial Site.
Our bar code ActiveX Controls support several linear and two dimensional barcode symbologies including Code 39, Extended Code 39, Code 128, Interleaved 2 of 5, LOGMARS, Codabar, EAN-128, USS Code 128, UPC-A, UPC-E, MSI, EAN-8, EAN-13, Code 11, Code 93, Industrial 2 of 5, POSTNET, PDF417, Data Matrix ECC 200 and MaxiCode barcode symbologies.
Although this product is compatible with Microsoft .NET, you may wish to evaluate our .NET Windows Forms Control if you are developing exclusively in the .NET environment.
ActiveX Control Features:
Our ActiveX Controls allow for easy "drag and drop" barcode creation in Windows applications. All of our ActiveX Controls have the following features:
Barcode Image Generator Included - all of our ActiveX Controls are provided with a barcode image generation application that can be used to copy barcodes into other applications or save them to a WMF file. This application is very easy to use, see an example. VB source code of the image generator application is also provided with this application.
Application support - you can use our ActiveX Controls in any application or programming environment that supports ActiveX Controls including Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, Visual C++, C#, Visual Basic, Visual FoxPro, Visual Studio.NET, Borland Delphi, and C++ Builder.
Also works as a DLL - our advanced ActiveX Control also works as a DLL in your application so it does not have to be loaded on the form. see an example... (You can create as many instances of our ActiveX object within your application, but the DLL does not support multi-threading and will not run as a separate process.)
.NET compatible - fully tested and compatible with dot net as a COM object. See our tutorials about implementation with either VB.NET or C# .NET for instructions.
Developer support - developers intending to distribute our control with their applications will be glad to know that all functionality of each barcode control is implemented in a single, small file. Distribution of our products outside your organization requires a Developer License.
Thermal Printer Support - in addition to supporting high resolution printers, this component prints extremely accurate barcodes on high-speed, low-resolution printers such as the 203 DPI thermal transfer bar code printers we sell. This functionality is automatically achieved in the component by drawing the symbol according to the resolution of the printer.
Data binding - our ActiveX controls easily bind to the most popular relational database systems. Refer to the DataSource, DataBindings, and DataField Properties to configure and bind the ActiveX control to a field in your database.
High performance, compact size and no runtime requirements - all of our controls were created in Visual C++ using ATL which means there are no runtime requirements, the file size of the controls is very small (which makes them easy to distribute), they use less CPU cycles than other controls and give greater performance.
Flexible sizing options - the X dimension, wide to narrow ratio, barcode height and other properties may be adjusted for the intended application and scanning equipment. Measurements are in CM (centimeters) unless otherwise indicated.
Graphic configuration options - settings are provided for the foreground and background colors and fonts for the human readable characters.
Lower ASCII support - lower ASCII functions such as returns and tabs are supported in the barcodes for Extended Code 39, Code 128, Data Matrix, MaxiCode and PDF417. In addition, the Code128 symbology in the linear control allows easy encoding of returns, tabs and other functions such as GS and RS functions between fields in a single barcode symbol.
Complete UCC/EAN 128 Support - we provide an easy method to add application identifiers into Code 128 and UCC128 barcodes that also format to the correct human-readable text.
Checksum options - checksum characters can be enabled or disabled in the barcode. In the human readable text, checksum characters can be appended to the text. This feature can also be turned off so the checksum character is not in the text but is encoded in the barcode. This feature is not applicable to Code 128 because Code 128 contains characters that cannot be entered from the keyboard.
Text options - the human readable text may be enabled or disabled in the linear barcode control. This feature is sometimes disabled by programmers that develop custom formatting for the text.
Selectable orientation - angles of 0, 90, 180 or 270 are supported.
Tilde Functions - in our PDF417, DataMatrix and MaxiCode products allow encoding of returns, tabs and other functions such as GS and RS functions between fields in a single barcode symbol. GS and RS functions are commonly used as field separators in UPS, FEDEX and other transportation applications.
Supports UPS Barcodes - the Maxicode component provided supports UPS Maxicode symbols including compressed Maxicode.
Royalty Free - with the purchase of a Developer License the control and runtimes are royalty free up to 10,000 users with few other limitations. Review the License Agreement for more details about this license.
Source Code - we will supply the C++ source code if you purchase 3 Developer Licenses and sign the source code license agreement.
Quality graphics - our controls produce precise, high resolution Windows Metafile graphics which scale to the resolution of the printer. Using our linear control with a 600 DPI laser printer, the Intermec and Opticon CCD Scanners were able to scan Code 128 printed with a narrow bar width as small as .015CM. The Intermec PDF scanner read PDF417 symbols printed at .015CM and the Hand Held Products Imager scanned DataMatrix as small as .02CM.
