Interleaved 2 of 5 Font Advantage Package Features:
If you do not use one of our Font Tools, the implementation of Interleaved 2 of 5 as a bar code font can be difficult because the barcode symbols are interleaved and cannot be easily printed. If you are not required to use Interleaved 2 of 5 barcodes and you need an easy to use numeric barcode, consider our Non-Interleaved Code 2 of 5 fonts, or our Codabar fonts, which are both easy to print.Details of the Interleaved 2 of 5 Font Advantage Package are as follows:
- Font Tools Included - for easy integration into applications, we provide
several Font Tools that are free to use with our fonts. Our font tools
automatically format the start, stop and check characters to the barcode
font. The following tools are included:
- Active Reports font library
- Check digit calculation application with Visual Basic 6 and FoxPro source code
- Crystal Reports UFL (User Function Library)
- IDAutomation Crystal Reports Formulas to allow distribution of crystal reports without the UFL
- DLLs for Windows
- FileMaker Pro Plug-ins
- Foxpro Program Module and source code
- Approach, Notes, and Domino
- Microsoft Office plug-ins for Word, Excel and Access with VBA
- Microsoft Reporting Services
- Oracle Reports Libraries and PLL
- Source Code in C++, Visual Basic, PowerBuilder, FoxPro and JAVA
- C# .NET Class Library
- VB.NET Module
- Star Office Add-in

- 24 Versions Provided - The Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode fonts are scaleable and should be printed at the correct font size to suit your application and scanning equipment. Twenty-four (24) versions of the Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode fonts are provided to support different width and height requirements, as well as those with bearer bars. The last characters in the Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode font name determines the height of the barcode with the shortest being IDAutomationI25XS and the tallest being IDAutomationI25XXL. Human readable versions are indicated by the "H" in the font name and supplied with the shortest being IDAutomationHI25XS and the tallest being IDAutomationHI25XXL. The bearer bar versions are also included and are indicated by the "B" and supplied in both human readable and non human readable versions. The Interleaved 2 of 5 font ending in the letter "L" is a special version that will meet USPS special services requirements when printed at 20 points.
- Industry Standard Support - Our Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode font is UNICODE compliant and it was developed according to ANSI USS Interleaved 2 of 5 and European (CEN) standards. Our Interleaved 2 of 5 font can be used for USPS mail special services, EAN-14 and SSC-14 barcode applications. Our "Interleaved2of5Mod10()" function in our MS Office Macros and Font Tools can be used to encode the MOD 10 check digit required for these specifications. EAN14 and SSC14 are primarily used for distribution applications and serialized carton tracking.
- Multiple Language and Locale Support - in the event your system regional setting is not set to "English" or the 1252 Latin-1 codepage, these fonts support the following additional codepages in Windows: 1250 European, 1251 Cryllic, 1253 Greek, 1254 Turkish, 1255 Hebrew and 1256 Arabic. To obtain a font that works in any operating system, codepage and locale, we offer the Universal Barcode Font Advantage™, which creates Interleaved 2 of 5 and many other barcodes as a single font.
- Multiple Formats Provided - When you purchase a license for this
font package, you will receive all versions in a single ZIP file. The
manual is supplied in a file named "ReadMe.html" in the ZIP
file. The following fonts are
included:
- TrueType fonts are supplied in PC and Macintosh format. The TrueType TTF fonts are compatible with Macintosh OS X and all versions of Microsoft Windows, including Pocket PC. Macintosh formatted MTT TrueType fonts are compatible with Macintosh System 7.1 and above.
- OpenType OTF fonts with PostScript outlines are provided. These are compatible with Windows Macintosh OS X and other systems supporting the OpenType format.
- PostScript Type 1 fonts are supplied in binary, ASCII and Macintosh versions.
- Also included in this package are PCL laserjet soft fonts in 10, 14, 20 and 28 points.
- With the purchase of a Developer License and a 1 year subscription of the Priority Support and Upgrade, we can convert fonts from this package to PCL 4, Xerox Metacode, XES, FNT, BDF, FON and AFP. More about this is provided here. The Developer License also grants you the right to convert our fonts to other formats as necessary including TrueDoc and OpenType.
- You may also get more information of what font types are provided.

Interleaved 2 of 5 Symbology Information:
Symbology basics:
- Interleaved 2 of 5 (ITF) is a numeric only barcode used for encoding pairs of numbers in a high density barcode format. Interleaved 2 of 5 barcodes always contain an even number of digits because a single Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode character represents two numbers to achieve the high density. If a number containing an odd number of digits has to be encoded, a leading zero must be added to produce an even number of digits in the Interleaved 2 of 5 bar code.
- The symbology of the Interleaved 2 of 5 character set consists of bar code symbols representing characters 00 to 99 and start / stop characters. The complete printed Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode consists of a leading quiet zone, a start pattern, Interleaved 2 of 5 symbols representing data, a stop pattern and a trailing quiet zone. According to ANSI specifications, the quiet zones must be 10 times the width of the short bar in the barcode.
- Interleaved 2 of 5 was designed for character self-checking, eliminating the requirement for checksum characters. However, checksum characters maximize data integrity and are required by some specifications.
- To learn more, please refer to the Interleaved 2 of 5 Symbology FAQ.
Symbology information relating to check digits:
- Interleaved 2 of 5 is commonly used for ITF-14, EAN-14, SSC-14 and DUN14. These implementations usually require a MOD 10 check digit. The Interleaved 2 of 5 MOD 10 can be calculated by our font automation tools or manually. Manual calculation is obtained by adding up the odd numbers in the code and multiplying them by 3 and then add up the even numbers. The check digit is obtained by determining the number that when added to the sum will produce a multiple of 10. For example, the check digit for 123456789 is 5 because (3*(1+3+5+7+9))+(2+4+6+8) = 95 and 95 + 5 =100. When calculating check digits, the data to encode should be an odd number of digits because the check digit is interleaved with the last digit.
- The Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode may also be used as for German Post Identcode and Leitcode symbols. Identcode and Leitcode require a checksum to be calculated. The calculation is similar to USS Interleaved 2 of 5 MOD 10 except that even numbers are multiplied by 9 and odd numbers by 4. For example, the check digit for 12345678901 would be "6" because (4*(1+3+5+7+9+1))+(9*(2+4+6+8+0)=284 and 284 + 6 = 290.
