Quest allows you to make text adventure games, also known as interactive fiction, quickly and easily and without needing to learn any programming. With Quest, it's simple to create your own interactive world or interactive story, and editing your game is made easy with the included editor, QDK. Quest has the power to let you make exciting adventure games, complete with graphics and sounds.

Quest Features:

  • Create games using the easy-to-use visual editor QDK, or code them yourself using the powerful, yet simple, ASL scripting language and a text editor - a full reference guide is included in the download.
  • You can start creating a game within minutes - QDK displays everything about your game in plain English, so there's no programming language to learn.
  • You can make games as small and simple or as large and complex as you like, with support for objects, menus, variables, conditional statements, user-defined commands, functions, loops, custom error messages and more.
  • Your text adventure game doesn't have to be just dull silent, black and white text - Quest lets you play sounds (in WAV, MIDI or a MOD format), show pictures (BMP, GIF, JPEG etc.), use different fonts and colours, and run external programs.
  • It's easy to set your game up to deal with players who write the same thing in different ways using the Synonyms feature.
  • Reuse your own and other people's procedures and functions easily using Libraries, which also let you create and use extensions to Quest such as Alan Bampton's Quest Extension Library, which is included in your download.
  • Stop other people from cheating by peeking into your games, and from editing them, by encrypting your game source code using the QCompile utility, which is part of Quest Pro.
  • If your game doesn't work quite as you expect, use Quest's debugging features - watch variables and view the error log while you play.
  • Other Quest features let you make rich and varied games. Quest supports random number generation, has various string handling functions and lets you make arrays of variables if you need to handle a large amount of similar data. Object properties, actions and types allow you to develop large, complex games more easily.
