BrowserLock is a user-defined, client-side portal, which resides on the user's own machine, and which also has the ability to restrict Web access to only those sites which are listed. That is, the user has complete control over which Web sites the portal offers links to. Users can update these sites by adding or deleting web-site addresses on the BrowserLock access list, and their "Personal Portal Page" is updated automatically. To get users started, BrowserLock comes ready supplied with the addresses of 3,000 sites which have already been catalogued by subject area. This list is by no means definitive - it is a guide for users.
And so that users can choose the way they want their portal to look in terms of colours, fonts and graphics, BrowserLock's graphic interface is fully customisable for a "pluggable look and feel".
