MPNews PRO is a news server for Windows that allows you to create news groups on your own computer. It is more fully-featured than the standard, free version. MPNews PRO includes all the features you would expect from a local news server, as well as several additional ones, such as an integrated web interface.

News groups created in MPNews PRO can be limited to people with a specific user name and password, on a computer within a specific IP address range, or any combination of these.

MPNews PRO runs as a service in the background, so your desktop is not cluttered with an additional window, and it is still running when you log off your computer.

MPNews PRO also allows your news groups to be accessed via the web as well as by using standard news reading software, so your news groups can be easily integrated into your web site and allow people who do not know how to use news reading software, or people who's news access is blocked by a firewall, to access your news groups. Runs as a service
MPNews PRO runs in the background as a service, so your desktop is not cluttered with an extra window while running the server.

Control Panel applet
MPNews PRO can be fully controlled from within a special control panel applet, including adding and removing groups, security settings and servers.

Run multiple servers
The MPNews PRO service can run multiple news servers on different ports, each using their own settings.

Security
Access to each news group can be limited to a set of security groups. Each security groups specify a limitation to a specific range of IP addresses and/or a list of usernames and passwords.

Web interface
News group on your server can also be accessed over the web to allow those without a news reader or unable to use it due to firewall restrictions to access your news groups. The display of your news groups through the web interface can be completely customized using an XSLT template. A range of additional pre-built templates is available.

Compression
News groups can grow to be very large, so MPNews PRO compresses all the messages to save on disk space.

Message removal
Using the Message Cleaner supplied with MPNews PRO you can remove any messages posted to the groups on your computer. You can also specify a maximum time to leave messages on the server, so they can be automatically deleted after a certain number of days.
